# Retaining Wall Service Areas Across NYC

[NYC Retaining Walls](https://nycretainingwalls.com/) is a licensed and insured retaining wall contractor working in all five boroughs, and these are our retaining wall service areas in NYC: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan. Each borough page covers its ground — Staten Island's serpentinite ridge and moraine, the Fordham gneiss of the Bronx, the Manhattan schist escarpment, the Queens and Brooklyn moraine — and its Local Law 37 filing window.

The nine neighborhood pages weren't picked by guesswork. We pulled NYC Open Data records since 2015 for retaining wall permits, inspector-confirmed wall problems and Local Law 37 failure-to-file citations, ranked every ZIP and neighborhood area on all three, and wrote a page only where an area ranked near the top **and** had something specific to say about its terrain or rules.

Rankings use NYC Open Data pulled October 17, 2026: DOB Job Application Filings (BIS, `ic3t-wcy2`) and DOB NOW: Build Job Application Filings (`w9ak-ipjd`) for permitted wall work; DOB Complaints Received (`eabe-havv`), DOB Violations (`3h2n-5cm9`) and DOB ECB Violations (`6bgk-3dad`) for wall problems; and DOB Safety Violations (`855j-jady`) with Violations code RWNRF for Local Law 37 non-filing. Each ZIP's score is the average of its percentile rank on the three signals, equally weighted, and areas where one block drove most of the count were treated as one-off events. Permit data undercounts small unpermitted walls, so the ranking shows where documented activity is, not every wall in the city.
